Meeting with the institutions engaged in suppression of domestic violence in Vukovar-Srijem County
 

Women’s Association Vukovar organized a multidisciplinary meeting with the institutions engaged in suppression of domestic violence in Vukovar-Srijem County. The meeting took place on 19th and 20th of May 2010, at Hotel Lav in Ilok. The aim of the meeting was continuation of cooperation of all institutions engaged in suppression of domestic violence as well as exchange of information and experiences related to work on suppression of domestic violence in Vukovar-Srijem County in the first months of 2010.

Ilok – Meeting with the institutions engaged in suppression of domestic violence in Vukovar-Srijem County The meeting attended around 30 persons, representatives of police, social welfare centers, state attorney offices, employment office, medical services, Safe House Vukovar, Family Centre, County Committee for Gender Equality, Office for State Administration in Vukovar-Srijem County, Office for Support to Victims and Witnesses, and non-governmental organizations. The meeting attended representatives of Association Brod – Group for Women’s Human Rights and organization Women’s Alternative of Sombor. The participants presented their statistical data on domestic violence and shared information on their activities and results achieved within their domains. The meeting agenda also included discussion on implementation of the Protocol for Action in Cases of Domestic Violence as well as on implementation of the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence.Ilok – Meeting with the  institutions engaged in suppression of domestic violence in  Vukovar-Srijem County

Dr.med. Nikola Drobnjak, specialist psychiatrist with the General Hospital Vinkovci held a presentation on how to deal with abuser, Ms. Mica Hadzic with the Office for State Administration spoke about provision of free legal aid, Ms. Branka Lucic, Head of the Office for Support to Victims and Witnesses at the County Court in Vukovar presented the work on support to victims and witnesses at court. Ms. Gordana Matanovic, chairwoman of the Association Brod presented the work of the shelter for victims of domestic violence and work with women victims, while Ms. Jasmina Dedic, sociologist, external associate of Women’s Association Vukovar presented the newest research on the situation related to victims against women in Vukovar and vicinities. The meeting facilitated Milena Babic, Deputy Project Manager with Women’s Association Vukovar.
