Stari Jankovci – Constitutional session of the Committee for Gender Equality Women’s Association Vukovar in cooperation with the Municipality of Stari Jankovci, and with financial support of the World Bank Croatia Office Civil Society Fund, started the initiative for establishment of Committee for Gender Equality of the Municipality of Stari Jankovci, in accordance with the National Policy for Gender Equality Mainstreaming 2006-2010 and the Law on gender equality (NN82/08). This initiative has resulted in the Decision on establishment of Committee for Gender Equality of the Municipality of Stari Jankovci brought on the session of the Municipal Council, held on April 09, 2010. In line with that, on April 28, 2010 the constitutional session of the Committee for Gender Equality of the Municipality of Stari Jankovci took place at the Municipal Hall.

The constitutional session attended five of 10 members of the Committee, while the absent members declared that they would accept decisions of the attending members. At the chairperson of the Committee was elected Ms. Branka Lucic, dipl. iur. of Novi Jankovci, and as a deputy chairperson Jelena Salaj of Stari Jankovci.

Stari Jankovci – Constitutional session of the Committee for Gender Equality Beside the members of the Committee, the session attended Ivo Lozic, Mayor of Stari Jankovci Municipality, Mijo sajtos, Deputy Mayor, Milena Babic, Deputy Project Manager with Women’s Association Vukovar, Mato Golubicic, Vice Prefect and Chairperson of the Committee for Gender Equality of the Vukovar-Srijem County, Ivana Curkovic, Secretary of the Committee for Gender Equality of the Vukovar-Srijem County, and Kata Kresic, Chairperson of the of the Committee for Gender Equality of the City of Vinkovci.

The main objective of Committee for Gender Equality of the Municipality of Stari Jankovci will be promotion of gender equality on the local level as well as mainstreaming of gender sensitive policies in all spheres of the local community life. The newly established Committee has passed through educational workshops related to the legislative frameworks and policies related to activities and policies for promotion of gender equality in the Republic of Croatia. In the incoming months the Committee will create its program as well as the action and operational plan, and will also be included in the activities implemented by the Committee for Gender Equality of the Vukovar-Srijem County.
