During March 2009 Women's Association Vukovar has for Association of Roma Women “Roma Heart“ of Jagodnjak held three workshops which covered the following topics: “Identity”, “Gender and Sex”, and “Human Rights and Combating Violence Against Women”. The first two workshops were held in the premises of “Roma Heart”, while the last one, visited by representatives of donor organization CARE International NWB of Sarajevo and Zagreb, at the premises of the Municipal Hall of the Municipality of Jagodnjak. The workshop leader was chairwomen of Women’s Association Vukovar, Marija Molnar.
These educational activities raised the level of awareness and theoretical knowledge about the aforementioned topics among the workshop participants, as well as additional practical skills in human rights advocacy and combating violence against women have been developed.
Educational activities, in particular focused on support to similar women’s organizations as well as exchange of knowledge and experiences with other women’s groups in our area, are important part of activities of Women’s Association Vukovar. In line with the development strategy of Women’s Association Vukovar, a particular attention will be paid to development and implementation of such activities n the near future.
